A full body massage is a wonderful way to relax, de-stress and treat yourself.
Ahead of your first treatment, your therapist will carry out a detailed consultation with you. This is to find out more about you, get an idea of what you’d like to get out of the treatment, and determine if there’s anything – such as a condition, contagious disease or injury – that would make it unsafe for you to have a treatment at this time. Rememeber to tell your thearapsit if you have any alergies. You will be asked to sign the consultation form. It is your therapist’s responsibly to store this information safely.
Your therapist will ask you to remove all your clothing apart from your pants. It’s also a good idea to remove any jewellery and to tie up long hair. Your therapist will then place towels around you to maintain your modesty, and you will be asked to lie on the massage couch, with a towel covering you. Full body massage treatments usually start with the client lying on their front.
Your treatment will last about 60 minutes. Your therapist will start by working your back with a movement called effleurage, which warms your muscles and peapres your body for treatment. They will then move onto your arms, legs, feet, upper frontal torso and abdomen, and face. Please let your therapist know if there are any areas you would like them to avoid.
Your treatment shouldn’t hurt so definitely tell your therapist if you experience pain or discomfort of any sort! There’s no “grin and bear it” element here and it’s definitely not any kind of endurance test!! All our bodies are different and we all experience touch and pressure differently so communication is key to minimise discomfit and maximise blissful you time!
Your therapist will let you know when the treatment is over. You shouldn’t need to rush to get up – go slow and take your time. Once you’re dressed, your therapist will talk to you about aftercare.
